The SSP Incident Response Technician serves as a member of the Hoosier Helper Safety Service Patrol crew operating specialty trucks to respond to freeway incidents, assist disabled motorists, and maintain safe traffic flow on the urban Interstate Highway System in Gary, Indiana. Responsibilities include removing debris, providing basic roadside assistance such as tire changes and jump starts, setting up traffic control devices, and performing emergency first aid when appropriate.
The role requires a valid Commercial Driver's License and involves working as an Emergency Responder to reduce congestion from incidents.
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to move weight up to 50 pounds and endure exposure to inclement weather
- Basic knowledge of automobile mechanical skills and first aid
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalent
