UBE's products are used in a wide range of applications, from everyday items such as automobile parts, digital home appliances, pharmaceuticals, and household goods to the development of social infrastructure such as infrastructure structures and buildings.



Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to oversee all related maintenance and troubleshooting for the plant. This role involves configuring and programming equipment like PLC panels, control circuits, and variable frequency drives while optimizing internal calibration processes. The candidate will ensure preventive maintenance, assist in mechanical repairs, and execute automation system improvements. Safety and regulatory compliance are essential, along with training staff and recommending electrical enhancements.

Collaboration with engineering and procurement teams will drive efficiency and innovation in plant operations.

Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and perform all electrical and instrumentation-related maintenance work orders and associated troubleshooting/support for the entire plant.
  • Interact with and support 3rd party calibration services provider and identify cost savings opportunities to perform calibrations internally.
  • Perform configuration, programming, and electrical work for equipment and systems, variable frequency drives, temperature controllers, control valves, vacuum sensors, PLC panels, motor starters, electrical control circuits, etc.
  • Evaluate and recommend new electrical components and standards for the plant.
  • Responsible for leading and/or performing preventive and routine maintenance of all electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Perform work activities in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements.
  • Readily assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment failures as requested such as transfer pumps - centrifugal, positive displacement and air operated diaphragm, vacuum pumps rotary piston and mechanical booster, gear reducers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Execute changes to the automation system for engineering improvements.
  • Train maintenance staff and others on electrical and instrumentation maintenance fundamentals.
  • Actively identify and recommend opportunities to improve electrical, instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Support and interact with other functions including engineering and procurement in their initiatives and projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to be on call, work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work well with internal stakeholders and external contractors.
  • Familiar with OSHA Regulations (General Duty Clause, PSM, etc.) and NFPA 70E.
  • Must have 5-10 years electrical/instrumentation experience in an industrial setting - DCS/PLC programming experience will be viewed as a strong plus.
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Desired to have experience with the controls of gas/oil fired boilers, vacuum systems and industrial chillers and other similar packaged equipment from vendors.
  • Proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related technical field preferred.
  • Chemical industry experience is considered a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with Allen Bradley drives/PLCs, Honeywell Experion/controllers, Omron PLCs/controllers is a plus.
