A Red Valve Welder II is expected to safely meet production goals and objectives by assembling various fabricated and/or cast products and welding various metals using MIG, TIG, and Stick equipment. This position requires highly motivated self‑starters who thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and are comfortable working with various metals such as cast iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Correctly read job specifications from build sheet/work order/blueprint/specification to determine exact material required and weld materials to produce sub‑assemblies or finished products
- Manufacture parts to meet production and quality requirements
- Ensure that all equipment and tools are maintained in working order
- Track production via daily management and ERP system
- Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Maintain high quality standards
- Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement/lean initiatives
- Maintain work cell through 5S and housekeeping
- Operate forklift when required
- Participate in special projects as required
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) or a minimum of two years related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in machine operation.
Skills and Qualifications- 3–5 years of welding experience
- High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, and professionalism
- Basic mathematical abilities
- Intermediate accuracy and thoroughness
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
- Basic reading, writing, and communication skills
- Ethical conduct
- Intermediate ability to read blueprints and build sheets
- Ability to operate mandrels, cranes, hoists, and other manufacturing equipment, as well as various hand power tools
- Physical manufacturing work aptitude; good mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Must pass a background check and an eight‑panel drug screening
- Basic computer skills (preferred)
- Experience with rubber, elastomers, metals (preferred)
No travel required.
Physical DemandsRegular sitting, standing, walking, handling, using hands and arms, talking, hearing; occasional crouching; occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs. Vision: near and far distances.
