PositionSummary
Responsible for supervising and coordinating crews installing inductive loop detection systems for traffic signal and vehicle detection applications. This role involves managing field operations, ensuring quality loop installations, adhering to safety standards, and delivering projects on time and within specifications.
Responsibilities- Supervise and lead crews in the installation, testing, and repair of inductive loop systems in asphalt or concrete roadways.
- Read and interpret loop layout plans, blueprints, traffic signal schematics, and construction drawings.
- Coordinate saw cutting, loop wire placement, back filling, and sealing operations to meet agency standards.
- Ensure proper loop wire installation, splicing, conduit connections, and detector cabinet terminations.
- Plan daily work activities and allocate tasks to crew members to meet project timelines.
- Operate and oversee use of saw cutting machines, grinders, air compressors, and other specialized tools.
- Maintain high standards of safety for personnel and traffic control zones, in compliance with MUTCD and OSHA requirements.
- Perform quality assurance checks and ensure compliance with local, state, and DOT specifications.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Maintain daily job logs, material tracking, and crew time reporting.
- Train and mentor crew members on installation techniques and safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot loop failures and conduct loop resistance, inductance, and continuity testing using proper meters.
- Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
- Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesmen on the jobsite, inspectors, customers, and the public.
- Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.
