Description

Gaston County Public Health is committed to protecting, promoting and preserving the health and well‑being of all Gaston County power residents.

Examples of Duties
  • Provides programmatic and administrative support to the Prevention Strategies Manager and the Assistant Health Director by overseeing opioid‑funded initiatives to ensure that programs are effectively implemented, monitored and in compliance with Opioid Settlement agreements.
  • Supports Gaston County opioid initiatives by assisting with the coordination of the Gaston Controlled Substances Coalition and the Opioid Settlement Team.
  • Works in collaboration with public health's data team to maintain dashboards, update monthly and quarterly reports, and ensure accurate documentation of outcomes for internal and external partners.
  • Provides technical assistance to FROM staff and community providers providing community education campaigns on opioids and substance use.
  • Other public health duties: relevant trainings (Quality Improvement training, leadership training, etc.)
  • Other related duties as assigned (Emergency Preparedness activities, community coalitions re: unhoused community, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Sociology, Social Work, Business Management, Criminal Justice or similar field.
  • 2 years experience in Public Health, grant management.
  • Data management software experience required, proficiency in Excel.
Additional Information
  • The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
  • In compliance with G.S.153A-94.2 (b), if the position being filled requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, the County must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI. These checks must be performed in accordance with G.S.143B-1209.26, which authorizes the SBI to provide fingerprint‑based state and national criminal record checks to cities and counties.
