Senior Safeguarding Clerk – Safeguarding Children Unit (SCU)
We are seeking applications for the post of Senior Safeguarding Clerk in the Safeguarding Children Unit (SCU). The post is part‑time, working Monday and Tuesday one week, then Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the following week.
About the SCUThe SCU is responsible for chairing Child Protection Conferences, Children in Our Care Reviews, Foster Care Reviews, Pre‑Secure and Secure Reviews, Complex Abuse Meetings and Allegation Management Meetings convened by the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
Key Responsibilities- Provide efficient administration and minuting service to ensure the efficient running of the SCU.
- Arrange meetings by ensuring invitation letters are distributed within procedural timescales.
- Attend Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, LADO Strategy Meetings and other statutory meetings to minute (using a laptop) and produce accurate records following discussion.
- Ensure child protection plans and all minutes from meetings are produced and distributed within procedural timescales.
- Input accurate performance data onto the Mosaic system following all Child Protection Conferences and LADO Strategy Meetings, maintaining appropriate records on the social care database in line with national and local authority guidance on confidentiality and information‑sharing.
- Handle administrative tasks relating to the arrangement of Foster Carers Annual Reviews.
- Assist the Business Support Manager in monitoring Business Support procedures.
- Maintain and update manual and computerised information systems, ensuring data accuracy and assisting with the auditing of data quality.
- Experience in convening, servicing and minuting meetings.
- Ability to work on own initiative, organise and prioritise workloads to meet timescales.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrating a high standard of accuracy.
- Excellent IT and typing skills; ability to input, retrieve, collate and present information from computerised and manual systems.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above or grades (1‑9) or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
- Experience working in a children’s social care or health environment is desirable but not essential.
Part‑time: 18.5 hours per week
Full‑time: 37 hours per week
