We are looking for an enthusiastic and accomplished receptionist to work as part of our admin team.
We are looking for a part-time experienced receptionist for 10 to 20 hours per week.
Main duties of the jobTo be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to: greeting and directing patients, patient registration, booking appointments, processing information (electronic and hard copy), and assisting patients as required.
To act as the central point of contact for patients, distribute information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, and liaise with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
About usThe practice has 12,200 patients in a partially deprived area. Our team consists of 5 GP partners, 5 salaried GPs, 3 practice nurses, 1 nursing associate, 3 health care assistants, 14 admin members (split between admin and receptionists), 2 pharmacists, and our PCN colleagues (pharmacists, counsellors, mental health practitioners, paramedics, social prescribers).
Job responsibilities- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with enquiries appropriately.
- Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments.
- Check patients in for appointments and direct them as required.
- Manage patient requests and relay messages to clinical staff when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate patient records in line with practice procedures.
- Process registration forms and update patient demographic information.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and letters.
- Scan, file, and retrieve documents using the clinical computer system.
- Support the administration of referrals, prescriptions, and test results as directed.
- Provide information and assistance to patients while maintaining confidentiality.
- Deal with patient enquiries sensitively and professionally.
- Promote a positive patient experience and respond appropriately to concerns.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information.
- Comply with GDPR, NHS regulations, and practice policies.
- Ensure patient records are handled securely and accurately.
- Work as part of the wider practice team.
- Follow practice policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Attend training and staff meetings as required.
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
- Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience working in a GP practice.
- Knowledge of EMIS Web.
