Assistant Director of Specialism – Maths

Leadership Scale: 8-12 – Permanent Role – Head Office – New College Durham Academies Trust

As Assistant Director of Specialism – Maths, you will play a key role in driving school improvement across the Trust. Working closely with Heads of Departments and teachers, your focus will be on supporting, developing, and leading our team of Maths practitioners to accelerate the pace of improvement. By enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, you will help every student achieve their potential, regardless of their starting point.

• Drive school improvement across multiple schools within the Trust.
• Support, develop, and lead the team of Maths practitioners.
• Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in Maths.
• Collaborate with Head of Departments and Trust-wide leadership teams.

• Experienced Maths practitioner with a proven track record of excellent results at KS3 and KS4.
• Minimum of five years’ teaching experience.
• Ability to drive improvement across multiple schools.
• Strong commitment to working in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and inspirational environment.
• Desire to develop professional development opportunities, including mentoring, shadowing, and collaboration.

All roles are subject to a six‑month probationary period.
