SEN Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

Salary: £14.00 Per hour;

Education Network is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in Gateshead. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support, helping pupils to access learning, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential in a safe and inclusive environment.

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including ASD and Down Syndrome.
• Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with classroom activities and differentiated learning tasks.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and outside agencies to ensure consistent support.
• Help create a positive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD, Down Syndrome, or behaviour needs.
• Calm, patient, and resilient, with a caring and supportive approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A team player passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives.
• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
• A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one).
