Prospero Teaching is working in close partnership with local councils, SEND services, and education providers across Gateshead to deliver tailored, one-to-one and small-group Functional Skills support. We are currently recruiting experienced Tutors to teach Maths, English, and PSHE at Entry Level 3, Level 1, and Level 2.

We are seeking dedicated Functional Skills Tutors in the Gateshead area to support students who are not currently accessing full-time education. Many learners may be experiencing emotional or behavioural challenges, so we are looking for Tutors who are patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning
.

Tuition is delivered in person
, which may take place in:

• Community venues
• Alternative provision settings
• Occasionally, the student’s home environment
• Pay rate: Up to £30 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)
• Hours: Up to 15 hours per week per student
• Start date: February 2026
• Location: Gateshead
• Duration: Ongoing
• Resources: Full access to our Resource Hub with learning materials
• Development: Access to CPD-accredited courses and training

• Deliver one-to-one or small-group Functional Skills tuition in Maths and/or English
• Plan and deliver personalised lessons to address individual learning needs
• Track student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and families
• Create a positive, supportive learning environment to help rebuild confidence
• Complete daily attendance records and weekly progress reports

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced DBS (child barred list) registered on the update service, or be willing to apply for one
• Be able to provide references covering the last two years of employment or education
