BSL Teaching Assistant (Level
2) – Gateshead Specialist Provision

Protocol Education is working alongside a specialist educational setting in Gateshead to recruit a committed Level 2 BSL Teaching Assistant for a full-time position commencing in September.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with BSL skills who is passionate about inclusion and ensuring pupils with hearing impairments receive the support they need to achieve success both academically and socially.

• Supporting deaf and hearing-impaired pupils within classroom environments
• Using BSL Level 2 skills to aid communication and understanding
• Working collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff
• Adapting resources to meet individual learning needs
• Encouraging pupil participation and independence
• Maintaining accurate records of support and progress

• Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Positive and flexible approach to supporting learners
• Previous experience in education, care or support settings preferred
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
