A specialist provision in Gateshead is looking to appoint a caring and enthusiastic Level 2 BSL Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September.

You’ll play a vital role in helping deaf and hearing‑impaired pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop meaningful relationships and grow in confidence throughout their educational journey.

• Supporting pupils in lessons and around the school environment
• Communicating using British Sign Language
• Helping pupils access learning activities and resources
• Building positive relationships and encouraging independence
• Supporting emotional wellbeing and social development
• Working closely with teaching and specialist support staff

• Hold a Level 2 BSL qualification
• Are passionate about inclusive education
• Have a caring, patient and positive attitude
• Can build trust and rapport with young people
• Have previous experience supporting children (advantageous)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. The advert is for a temporary position, with the possibility of becoming permanent in the future.
