Level 3 Teaching Assistant – PMLD Support

Location: Gateshead

Role Overview: Provide specialist support to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, assisting with educational, physical, sensory, and personal care needs to enable access to a broad and balanced curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support pupils with complex learning difficulties and medical needs.
• Deliver individual and small-group learning activities under teacher guidance.
• Use sensory-based teaching approaches and communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and intensive interaction.
• Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility requirements.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessment records.
• Promote independence, dignity, and inclusion.
• Work closely with therapists, healthcare professionals, and families.

Essential

Qualifications:

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Experience supporting SEND pupils, particularly PMLD learners.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and behaviour support strategies.
