Milk Education is seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to support pupils across primary schools in Gateshead. Opportunities are available on both a part-time and full-time basis, with flexible supply work, long-term placements and permanent opportunities available.

We are supporting a number of partner schools with their September recruitment plans, making this a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to gain valuable classroom experience, develop their behaviour support skills or secure their next long-term role.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support with emotional regulation, confidence, social skills and positive behaviour. You will help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment where children feel supported, understood and ready to engage with their education.

You will work alongside class teachers and school staff to implement personalised strategies, build trusting relationships and encourage pupils to develop independence and resilience.

Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant may include:

• Providing 1:1 support for pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support
• Supporting children to regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies
• Implementing behaviour support plans and personalised interventions
• Encouraging engagement in classroom activities and learning
• Building positive relationships with pupils to support confidence and self-esteem
• Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams
• Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and less structured activities
• Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment

Many of our Behaviour Support Assistants progress from temporary to permanent school-based roles through Milk Education.
