- Role Overview
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils both in the classroom and through small group or one-to-one interventions. You will help create a positive learning environment, encourage pupil engagement, and provide tailored support to children with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
This role is ideal for an experienced Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children.

- Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils who require additional help
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs, including those with SEND
- Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence in learning
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate
- Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff
- Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
- Promote the welfare and wellbeing of all pupils
- Contribute positively to the wider school community where appropriate

- Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with children (preferably in a primary school or educational setting)
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs (desirable)
- A patient, caring, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Must live locally to Gateshead—no relocation
