Hours: 08:30–15:30, Monday – Friday
Start: September
Pay: £107.71 per day
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a child on a one-to‑one basis? Milk Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Whickham, seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support from September.

1:1 Support Level 2 Teaching Assistant– Role Overview
As a 1:1 Support Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual pupil, providing personalised support to help them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. You will work alongside the class teacher and SEND staff to implement tailored learning strategies and promote a positive, inclusive learning environment.
This role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant with a nurturing approach and experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
1:1 Support Level 2 Teaching Assistant– Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support for an individual pupil throughout the school day
- Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs and learning style
- Support the pupil to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities
- Deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
- Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Encourage positive interactions with peers and help develop social skills
- Provide reassurance and consistent support throughout the school day
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, parents, and external professionals where appropriate
- Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
- Contribute positively to the wider school community
- Promote the welfare and wellbeing of all pupils
– Essential Criteria
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Previous experience working within a primary school setting
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs (desirable)
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to adapt to the individual needs of the pupil - A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Must live locally to Whickham—no relocation
