Secondary Geography Teacher

We are currently seeking a dedicated Secondary Geography Teacher to work in a secondary school in the Gateshead area. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver engaging and structured Geography lessons, support pupils of varying abilities, and help create a positive classroom environment where every student feels inspired to learn and achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with the Humanities department and school leadership team to ensure continuity of learning while maintaining high standards in teaching, behaviour, and student engagement.

Working Hours

8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Geography in a secondary school setting
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to teach Geography across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive and professional attitude
  • Ability to provide two recent references
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 where required)
  • Plan and deliver creative lessons that develop geographical knowledge, map skills, fieldwork techniques, and an understanding of physical and human geography
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with the Humanities department and wider school staff
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and classroom engagement
  • Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback where necessary
  • Prepare students for assessments and GCSE examinations while encouraging curiosity, independent thinking, and a deeper understanding of global issues
