Psychology Graduates Wanted - Primary School Learning Support Assistant

Are you a recent Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience supporting children's learning, behaviour and emotional wellbeing?

A supportive primary school in Gateshead is seeking a dedicated graduate to join their team as a Learning Support Assistant
. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils who benefit from additional academic, behavioural and emotional support, providing invaluable experience for anyone considering a career in psychology, education or child development.

Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and experienced support staff, you will:

• Support children with Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs.
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to improve confidence and engagement.
• Help children regulate emotions and develop social skills.
• Promote positive behaviour throughout the school day.
• Assist teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Observe and monitor pupil progress.
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing and supportive school community.

This position offers first-hand experience of:

Many of our graduates go on to train as Educational Psychologists, Teachers, Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists or Social Workers.

• Wants to build experience before further study or teacher training.
• Can build positive relationships with children and colleagues.
