A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Gateshead is looking for a compassionate and motivated Psychology graduate to join their team as a Learning Support Assistant from September.

You'll be joining an experienced and supportive staff team who are passionate about helping every pupil succeed.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Work closely with children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
• Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Observe behaviour, learning and emotional development.
• Encourage positive behaviour using nurturing strategies.
• Help create a calm, safe and supportive classroom environment.
• Build meaningful relationships with pupils, teachers and families.

• A degree in Psychology (or a related subject).
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
