Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (Full-time & Part-time opportunities available)

Pay: £107.71 per day

Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead to recruit a Child Development Support Assistant to join their dedicated team from September. This rewarding role involves supporting children with their social, emotional, behavioural, and academic development, helping them build confidence, develop key life skills, and achieve their full potential.
Child Development Support Assistant- Key Responsibilities Child Development & Learning
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to encourage their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Deliver targeted interventions that help pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence.
- Work alongside teachers to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Encourage participation and engagement across the curriculum.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support children in developing emotional regulation, communication, and social skills.
- Promote positive behaviour and provide consistent encouragement.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.
- Contribute positively to the wider school community.
- Essential Criteria
- Recent experience working with primary-aged children in a school, childcare, or educational setting.
- Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, or additional needs is desirable.
- A caring, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children's development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Must live locally to Gateshead or be able to commute daily—no relocation.
