We're currently recruiting for a Supply Maths Teacher to support secondary schools across Gateshead and surrounding areas on a long or short-term basis, starting in September. This role could suit an experienced teacher, ECT or a qualified teacher looking for flexible supply work or a new opportunity within a supportive school environment.
You’ll be supporting inclusive and ambitious schools that place student progress, achievement and wellbeing at the heart of school life. Whether you're looking for day-to-day supply, longer-term work or a potential temp-to-perm opportunity, this role offers the chance to make a genuine impact in the classroom.
This is a great opportunity for a Maths Teacher looking for flexibility while becoming a familiar face within local schools and building positive relationships with students and staff.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Following existing lesson plans and schemes of work where provided
- Supporting students to develop their mathematical knowledge, understanding and problem-solving skills
- Adapting activities and resources to meet a range of abilities and learning needs
- Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment
- Managing behaviour effectively and maintaining high expectations
- Supporting students to build confidence and overcome barriers to learning
- Monitoring student engagement and progress throughout lessons
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider Maths department
- Providing feedback to relevant staff following lessons where required
- Following school policies, safeguarding procedures and expectations at all times
Requirements or
Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Maths within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Mathematics
- Experience teaching across KS3 and/or KS4
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to quickly establish positive relationships with students and staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable and confident working across different school environments
- A commitment to supporting student progress, achievement and wellbeing
- ECTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply
