Protocol Education is currently recruiting for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming specialist SEND school in Gateshead on a full-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA who is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, leading interventions and helping children achieve their individual learning and development goals.

As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to support pupils both academically and personally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading small-group interventions
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs
- Delivering planned learning activities
- Supporting pupils to access the curriculum
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress
- Providing classroom cover when required
- Supporting positive behaviour and engagement
- Adapting activities to meet individual needs
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence and independence
- Working collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff
- Building positive and supportive relationships with pupils
The ideal candidate will be an experienced education professional who is passionate about working within a specialist SEND environment.

- An experienced HLTA or Teaching Assistant
- Confident leading learning activities and interventions
- Patient, calm and approachable
- Resilient and adaptable
- Confident supporting pupils with additional needs
- Able to build positive relationships
- A strong communicator and team player
- Passionate about helping children achieve their potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
