Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND Provision

Location: Gateshead
Job Type: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £120 - 140per day, dependent on experience

Protocol Education are working with a specialist SEND provision in Gateshead who are looking for a passionate and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team.

You will support children and young people with physical and/or medical needs
, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop greater independence.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a TA who wants to build their specialist experience and work alongside a range of professionals.

What You'll Be Supporting With
  • Supporting children and young people to access learning.
  • Adapting activities and resources to suit individual needs.
  • Supporting pupils with physical and medical needs.
  • Using assistive technology and specialist ICT to support learning.
  • Setting up and checking specialist equipment.
  • Supporting communication and alternative ways of recording work.
  • Encouraging independence and participation.
  • Working closely with specialist teachers and wider professionals.
  • Monitoring progress and sharing observations and feedback.
  • Ensuring equipment and support strategies are used safely.
What We're Looking For
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience supporting physical and/or medical needs.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence with ICT and willingness to learn new technology.
  • A flexible and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work across different settings.
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle – essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
