Protocol Education are recruiting for a resilient Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEND school in Gateshead.

You’ll support pupils who may require significant additional support with communication, learning, behaviour, sensory regulation and independence.

No two days will be exactly the same, so we’re looking for someone who can adapt, stay calm and keep a positive approach when things don’t go to plan.

Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm / 4:30pm
Pay: £98–£120 per day

You’ll be responsible for:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils to access learning
• Encouraging communication and interaction
• Supporting emotional and sensory regulation
• Developing independence and life skills
• Supporting transitions and routines
• Promoting positive behaviour
• Following individualised plans
• Supporting classroom activities
• Working closely with teachers and specialist professionals
• Monitoring pupil progress

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

• Autism/ASC
• Learning difficulties
• Complex needs
• Sensory needs
• Speech and language needs
• Physical needs
• SEMH

Previous experience in education, SEND, care, residential care, nursing, youth work or support work is welcomed.

You need to be able to build relationships, maintain consistent boundaries and support pupils through difficult moments without giving up on them.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
