Share your expertise. Shape futures. Build the next generation of electricians.

Are you an experienced electrician looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to make a lasting difference?

At Gateshead College, we're looking for industry professionals who want to inspire and develop the next generation of skilled electricians. Whether you've previously taught or are considering a move into education for the first time, we'd love to hear from you.

As an Electrical Installation Teacher, you'll bring your industry knowledge, practical experience, and professional insights into the classroom and workshop, helping learners gain the skills, confidence, and behaviours they need to succeed in the modern electrical industry.

What you’ll bring

We're looking for someone who:

• Significant industry experience working as a qualified electrician with the ability to bring current industry knowledge and practical expertise into the learning environment.

• Holds a relevant Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification.

• Is committed to safe working practices and high-quality standards.

• Enjoys sharing knowledge and supporting others to learn and develop.

• Can communicate technical information in a clear and engaging way.

• Has knowledge of Electrical Installation qualifications, including City & Guilds 2365 and 5357.

Additional experience that’s beneficial

As we continue to grow and develop our curriculum, experience in any of the following areas would be welcomed:

• Solar PV installation

• Battery storage systems

• Electric Vehicle (EV) charging point installation

• Curriculum development and planning

• Learner assessment and quality assurance

No teaching experience? No problem.

You don't need to be a qualified teacher to apply.

If you're passionate about your trade and want to help others succeed, we'll support you to develop your teaching skills and gain any relevant teaching qualifications.

We value people from a range of backgrounds and experiences. What matters most is your ability to inspire learners, share your expertise, and help students and apprentices build successful careers in the electrical industry.

We'll provide comprehensive training and cover the cost of your qualification while you gain valuable teaching experience. We understand the commitment involved and that's why we offer paid time off the job to attend training. Additionally, you'll be supported by one of our dedicated teaching staff throughout your journey, so you’ll have the guidance and mentorship needed to thrive in your new role.

Why join us?

At Gateshead College, you'll be part of a supportive team that is committed to developing talent, promoting innovation, and transforming lives through education.

This is an opportunity to:

• Pass on your industry expertise.

• Help address skills shortages within the sector.

• Support learners to progress into employment, apprenticeships, and higher-level study.

• Continue your own professional development in a rewarding and meaningful career.

If you're ready to use your experience to inspire others and shape the future workforce, we'd love to hear from you.
