Finance Business Partner (Contract)
Are you an experienced finance professional with a passion for delivering strategic financial support within complex organizational environments? We are currently seeking a highly skilled Finance Business Partner for an exciting three-month contract opportunity. This role is perfect for a senior finance professional comfortable providing expert advice, strengthening financial planning, and enhancing governance arrangements across multiple entities.
About the RoleAs a Finance Business Partner, you will provide short‑term, senior financial business partner support to the Council's wholly owned companies, focusing on critical financial planning, commercial assurance, and governance. Your key responsibilities include refreshing and updating the energy company's medium‑term financial business plan, supporting forecasts, assumptions, and narrative development. You will review and challenge financial models, identify risks, sensitivities, and mitigation strategies, and clearly articulate implications for both the company and the shareholder.
Additionally, you will undertake a comprehensive review of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), assessing scope, costs, charging mechanisms, and value for money.
- Refresh and update medium‑term financial business plans, including forecasts and assumptions
- Review and challenge financial models, identifying risks and mitigation actions
- Conduct a thorough review of SLAs between the Council's companies
- Provide strategic financial advice to senior management and stakeholder groups
- Support governance and assurance processes, ensuring effective financial controls
- Present complex financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
- Manage workloads effectively within tight deadlines
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead and mentor team members where applicable, providing training and support
- CCAB qualification or equivalent
- Extensive experience in the public sector financial environment or assurance and governance roles such as Internal Audit or Risk Management
- Strong financial modeling, planning, and governance expertise
Excellent communication skills, able to present complex financial data effectively - Proficiency in Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email applications
- Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to work independently
- Umbrella £33.93ph, PAYE inc. holiday pay £30.14ph, PAYE exc. holiday pay £26.89ph
