Job Responsibilities- Provide professional financial advice and support to service managers and senior leadership teams.
- Act as a strategic Finance Business Partner to support effective financial planning, budgeting, and decision‑making.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and value for money.
- Support the development and implementation of financial strategies and service improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and council policies.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial management information to stakeholders.
- Support budget holders in managing expenditure, identifying financial risks, and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Assist with year‑end accounts, financial statements, and audit processes.
- Contribute to medium and long‑term financial planning activities.
- Develop effective working relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Provide financial modelling, analysis, and business case support for projects and service developments.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure high standards of governance and accountability.
- Support continuous improvement within finance processes and systems.
- CCAB Qualified (Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies).
- Significant experience in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience working in a Finance Business Partner or similar finance role.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and present complex financial information clearly and effectively.
- Experience providing financial advice and support to managers and stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and governance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across departments and with senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills, including financial systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Previous experience working within local government or public sector finance.
- Experience supporting strategic financial planning and transformation projects.
- Knowledge of local authority finance regulations and reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting audits and year‑end accounting processes.
