Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Crawcrook
We are a specialist mental health support provider delivering high-quality, person-centred supported living and community-based services for adults with complex mental health needs.
Our work supports individuals with a range of needs including severe and enduring mental illness, acquired brain injury, trauma histories and physical health comorbidities. We pride ourselves on consistent staffing, trauma-informed practice and genuine enablement, not task-driven care.
We are expanding our teams and are looking for compassionate, emotionally intelligent Mental Health Support Workers who want to build long-term, meaningful work in mental health.
The Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide 1:1, and small-team support to adults living in their own homes or supported accommodation.
You will work as part of a stable, well-supported team, helping individuals to:
* Feel emotionally safe and understood
* Develop structure, routine and confidence
* Manage their mental health with dignity and choice
* Re-engage with community life at their own pace
This role requires patience, empathy, emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm in complex or emotionally charged situations.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver person-centred, trauma-informed mental health support
* Support emotional regulation, daily routines and wellbeing
* Assist with medication in line with care plans and clinical guidance
* Monitor mental and physical health and respond to changes appropriately
* Support daily living skills, independence and enablement
* Maintain clear, accurate digital care records
* Work collaboratively with families, clinicians and managers
* Promote dignity, choice, consent and rights at all times
Who We’re Looking For
Essential
* Experience in mental health, supported living or care settings
* A calm, respectful and reflective approach to support
* Strong communication and observation skills
* Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable
* Experience supporting autism, trauma or brain injury
* PMVA / MAPA or similar training
* Level 2 or 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or willingness to work towards)
We value attitude, emotional awareness and consistency as much as experience.
What We Offer
* Competitive pay: £12.85 per hour
* Paid sleep-ins and waking night enhancements
* Comprehensive induction and role-specific training
* Ongoing supervision, reflective practice and management support
* Clear pathways for development and progression
* Stable rotas and a focus on continuity of care
* Digital care systems that reduce paperwork and support good practice
Why Work With Us?
We are not a volume provider. We invest in our staff because we believe safe, consistent relationships are central to recovery.
If you are looking for a role where you are valued, supported, and given the space to do mental health support properly, we would love to hear from you
