An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual who is experienced in complex mental health care to join our specialist team at Pinetree Lodge as a Nursing Support Practitioner!
To be successful in the role, you will be passionate about delivering person-centred dementia / mental health care, possessing good communication and interpersonal skills and will have recent experience caring for people with dementia, preferably as a Support Worker.
Due to limits on our certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This is regularly reviewed.
Main duties of the jobYou will be joining our team of hard-working and caring professionals within Pinetree Lodge, a 24-hour specialist mental health care unit for older people commissioned by the NHS. Your main role will be assisting our residents who have complex mental health needs and/or dementia in the general domestic routine of their home and providing clear and positive leadership to our team of Support Workers.
Please note, you will work on a shift rota basis, which could be any time 24/7.

Job responsibilities- Provide a service that meet the needs of service users and their carersinclusive of all required patient records in order to provide high qualitysupport services.
- Provide administration Clinical and dispensing of medication under the direction of medical and nursing professionals and/or manufacturersguidelines. Support nurses during medication round.
- Prepare for and join GP and psychiatrist reviews and district nurses ontheir visits under the direction of the Clinical Lead. Document outcomes ofvisit to support the patient.
- Coordinate with family members regularly attending meetings as required and at times offering counselling and support to the patient.
- Support and enable colleagues to meet the needs of patients who expressthemselves through difficult or challenging behaviour. Ensure that theseapproaches are linked to nursing support plans.
- Coach and mentor the support workers in order to support with the individual development of each support worker in the team.
- Support the Staff Nurse to ensure that the service meets all relevantquality standards, related to professional regulatory bodies.
- Undertake any reasonable duties/responsibilities to meet the needs of the organisation
- Experience of working with people who have enduring and complex mental health needs, who can present with behaviours that challenge.
- Experience of working with families and non-professional carers.
- Experience of working in a community-based setting.
- Experience working within a commercial charity/social enterprise.
- GCSE Maths and English minimum Grade C (or equivalent qualification).
- NVQ Level 3 (or greater) in Health and Social Care this will be essential to the role, but if you do not have this, you must be prepared to be undertake this course within the role.

- Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health.
- Knowledge and awareness of the principles of person-centred care and overall (mental and physical) wellbeing.
