Location: Washington- NE37 1PA

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday 08:00-14:00 (with occasional on-call/out-of-hours support)

Rate Of Pay: £14.99 Per Hour + Sodexo rewardsand benefits

About the Role:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Facilities Maintenance Operative to join our technical team at the Washington facility. This role is responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure buildings, facilities, and equipment remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. You will support the delivery of high-quality facilities management services by responding to maintenance requests and completing general repair work to maintain excellent standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks across all site buildings and facilities.
  • Undertake general maintenance and repair work, including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor facility work.
  • Respond to maintenance requests through the facilities management helpdesk within agreed service levels.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, plant rooms, and equipment to identify maintenance issues or potential hazards.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with health, safety, and site‑specific procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed in the CAFM system.
  • Support and escort specialist contractors working on site when required.
  • Assist with minor site improvements, installations, and refurbishment projects.
  • Keep tools, materials, and work areas maintained and safe.
  • Provide professional and responsive service to site staff and visitors, fostering positive working relationships.
  • Report any faults, safety concerns, or maintenance issues to the Facilities Supervisor or Site Manager.
  • Participate in an overtime rota and occasional out-of-hours callouts as needed.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in building services, facilities support, or maintenance roles.
  • General knowledge of Building Services Engineering or facilities operations.
  • Full, clean driver's licence.
  • Good standard of education with numerical and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong DIY skills, including experience using hand and power tools.
  • Plumbing experience and L8 compliance knowledge desirable.
  • 18th Edition or Level 3 qualifications in mechanical/electrical disciplines are advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues and clients.
