Mobile Building Services & Maintenance Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Building Services and Maintenance Engineer covering the North East of England

Salary: £39,148.30 per annum, 22.5 days annual leave, rising to 25 after 5 years' service plus bank holidays

Contract: Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). Typical attendance 08:00 until 16:00 Monday to Friday, flexibility essential.

You will cover postcodes: NE Newcastle, SR Sunderland, DH Durham, DL Darlington and TS Teeside.

Future requirement may include out of hours callout rota.

We're looking for someone with strong technical expertise in electrical systems, mechanical power, control wiring, and electrical installation testing and inspection. In this role, you'll lead various facilities management systems, focusing on electrical maintenance.

Flexibility is key, working across multiple sites within a defined area. A company vehicle will be provided to support travel. Excellent communication skills will help build relationships with customers and managers. Strong organisational skills essential to manage workload effectively and ensure smooth project delivery.

• Carry out maintenance of electrical systems across a variety of commercial sites.
• Diagnose faults and provide expert advice to customers, particularly on equipment like roller shutter doors and dock levellers.
• Perform basic plumbing tasks, including replacing taps, sinks, cistern flush units, and heating elements.
• Apply technical knowledge and personal judgement to deliver high‑quality work that meets cost and time targets.
• Offer clear technical guidance to colleagues and customers to help resolve issues efficiently.
• Manage the delivery of both planned and corrective maintenance in line with contract performance standards.
• Liaise daily with customer representatives to ensure all requirements are met and expectations exceeded.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed accurately and in accordance with approved procedures.
• Promote a strong safety culture by setting a positive example for colleagues and customers.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, representing yourself and Royal Mail Property & Facilities Solutions professionally at all times.

• Must hold an Electrical certification such as the 18th Edition.
• Possess full electrical City & Guilds qualifications, including 2382 and 2391 Testing & Inspection.
• Demonstrated experience in planned maintenance of both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Skilled in fault finding and diagnosis, with the ability to advise others across various systems.
• Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical issues clearly to customers.
• Confident in analysing and resolving complex electrical system challenges.
• Ideally trained and certified in IPAF and MEWP and comfortable working at heights.
• Proven experience working with customers in a commercial environment.
• Hold a valid UK driving licence (preferably with no endorsements), as travel across sites is required.
• Computer literacy skills an advantage.
