Multi-Skilled Craftsperson - Mechanical

The post holder is responsible for delivering a safe, efficient and cost-effective Estates maintenance service across all Trust properties. The role involves carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, installation and improvement works in compliance with statutory requirements, organisational standards and Health and Safety legislation., Accountable to the supervisor and Electrical and Mechanical Engineers for the cost effective and efficient operation of all plant, services and equipment within his control, including the planning, monitoring and co-ordination of engineering maintenance programmes within the Estates department.

Undertake engineering maintenance on a day-to-day basis, including dealing with operational incidents as and when they arise. Effectively diagnose engineering faults and initiate repairs. Work to specifications and drawings for revenue and capital works. Undertake and implement the programme of engineering maintenance. Liaise with the wider Estates Management team to prepare engineering maintenance and plant replacement programmes on an annual basis.

Carry out Minor New Works as requested. Assist with investigations into engineering failures of plant, service, or equipment with reference to complaints and litigation issues including Health, Safety and Welfare at work, incident reporting and risk management.

The position requires a high degree of technical competence, flexibility and teamwork, including supporting other trades, contractors and undertaking tasks outside core skills when required. The post holder participates in a shift rota to ensure service provision 24/7 and must be capable of responding to emergencies, working across trade boundaries and operating in challenging conditions.

In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice. QE Facilities work to their own Terms and Conditions and these are not the same as Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust Terms and Conditions. This is not an Agenda for Change Pay Rate.
