Occupational Therapy Team Manager - Independent Living Service

Eden Brown Synergy is currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapy Team Manager to join Gateshead Council's Independent Living Service.

Requirements
  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Significant recent experience working as an Occupational Therapist, ideally within a local authority, social care or community setting.
  • Previous team management or leadership experience within an Occupational Therapy service.
  • Experience managing workloads, staff performance, risk and complex cases.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, statutory requirements, quality assurance and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Ability to produce management reports and monitor service performance.
  • Experience supporting staff development through supervision and performance management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and line manage the Occupational Therapy team, setting targets and supporting continuous professional development.
  • Manage workload, competing demands and allocation of cases effectively.
  • Oversee team action plans, risk assessments, safeguarding and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure high-quality practice through case audits, quality assurance and monitoring of OT treatment plans and documentation.
  • Develop effective partnerships with internal and external agencies to support integrated service delivery.
  • Manage recruitment, attendance, employee relations, occupational health and disciplinary processes where required.
  • Prepare and present performance, management and business reports.
  • Monitor budgets and promote cost-effective service delivery.
  • Provide reflective supervision and development support to Senior Practitioners.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures across the service.
  • Respond to complex and high-risk complaints.
  • Deputise for the Service Manager when required.
