Job Description Multi‑skilled Engineer - Electrical Bias - Based at Gateshead4 on 4 off, 6am till 6pm and 6pm till 6am (rotating shifts)
We’re hiring electrically biased Multi‑skilled Engineers to join our team at our Gateshead site home of the much‑loved tortilla crisps and rice cakes.

What You’ll Be Doing- Daily repair of machinery and carrying out proactive tasks when possible
- Planning and monitoring machine performance
- Monitoring failure
- Supporting external contractors
- Technical support for production when required
- Maintaining the highest standards in housekeeping, adopting a clean‑as‑you‑go policy
- Maintaining the highest standards when completing paperwork and works sign off
The Role
- Health & Safety and safe work practices
- Food safety, minimizing day‑to‑day risks with running of the plant and involving contractors
- Planning – ensuring that the company can hit its required targets
- Firefighting machinery / site services upkeep and carrying out ongoing maintenance PPM in a timely manner
- Promoting and contributing to continuous improvement of the running of the company
- Minimizing downtime
- Training / guiding production staff in the correct way to treat our machinery and helping train our maintenance technicians from within our department
- Working on projects as allocated by the Engineering Manager
- Any other duties as requested by the Engineering Manager
- Relevant Electrical Engineering qualification with basic mechanical skills
- Able to prove competency in all forms of isolation and electrical safety
- Proactive, using your own initiative
- Experience of FMCG operations
- PC literate (thereby able to use computer‑based maintenance systems)
- 4 on 4 off, 6am till 6pm and 6pm till 6am (rotating shifts)
