The Best Connection are recruiting Platers on behalf of our client, a leading metal fabrication specialist based in Gateshead
.

This is a temp-to-perm role with a permanent contract available for the right person.

The Role
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
  • Mark out, cut and shape heavy steel components using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Assemble structural fabrications to tight tolerances ready for final welding.
  • Carry out tack welding as required.
  • Work closely with welders, engineers and other team members to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Carry out self-inspections and ensure all work meets the required quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Follow company policies, procedures and health & safety regulations at all times.
The Candidate
  • Proven experience as a Plater within a fabrication environment.
  • Time-served with strong practical experience.
  • Previous experience in heavy engineering is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication techniques and materials.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Trade qualification or relevant fabrication certification is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out demanding fabrication work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Hours of Work and Pay
  • Day shift
    - Monday to Friday
    , working 37 hours per week
    .
  • £17.50 per hour standard rate.
  • x1.5 (£26.25 per hour) overtime rate applicable for the first 4 hours worked on a Saturday
    .
  • x2 (£35.00 per hour) overtime rate applicable after 4 hours worked on a Saturday
    .
