Position: Surintendant(e) Génie civil et voirie - Superintendent

Summary

Surintendant(e) - Génie civil et voirie Gatineau, QC. Sous la responsabilité du directeur, le Surintendant(e) sera chargé d’organiser les équipes et l’équipement, d’attribuer aux travailleurs les tâches selon les projets en cours, dans le domaine du Génie civil et voirie. Planifier les besoins en main d’œuvre en collaboration avec le chargé de projet et assurer le suivi des besoins selon l’échéancier.

Reporting into the Director, the Superintendent will be responsible for organizing teams and equipment and assigning tasks to workers based on ongoing projects within the Civil Engineering and Roadwork sector. The Superintendent will also plan labor requirements in collaboration with the Project Manager and monitor needs according to the project schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the execution of various tasks to be completed on the construction site.
  • Read and analyze contractual documents, including plans, specifications, directives, change orders, notes to the foreperson, and other contract documents.
  • Understand the scope of work and its impact on the physical and human environment surrounding the job site.
  • Adhere to the established project schedule by confirming key milestones with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate the work of various stakeholders by establishing the sequence of work, communicating it clearly, and holding coordination meetings as needed.
  • Organize the job site in collaboration with the Project Manager by planning temporary access, trailer and restroom areas, storage and unloading zones, and required equipment.
  • Complete the weekly report by documenting attendance, activities completed, significant or problematic events, and weather conditions.
  • Organize teams and equipment, assign tasks to workers based on ongoing projects.
  • Plan labor requirements in collaboration with the Project Manager and monitor needs according to the project schedule.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Familiarize with the CCDG (Cahier des charges général / General Specifications) and the City of Gatineau's standardized specifications.
  • Plan and organize work on a day-to-day basis.
  • Respect the rules, procedures, and work methods.
  • Handle pressure, unexpected situations, and deadlines.
  • Maintain good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience on construction sites.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Professional attitude and ability to adapt quickly to job site realities.
  • Proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with various stakeholders.
  • Commitment to quality and a job well done.
  • Good communication with managers, crew leaders, union representatives and other stakeholders.
  • Respect for rules, procedures and methods of work.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Bilingual (French / English).
  • CCQ (Commission de la construction du Québec) competency certificate is an asset.
  • Mandatory ASP Construction course (Health & Safety certification).
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
