Overview:
The Sewer Crew Members support the installation, maintenance, and repair of watermain, storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems. This role involves physically demanding outdoor work, operation of hand and power tools, and collaboration with crew members to complete underground infrastructure projects safely and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation, repair, and replacement of watermain and sewer infrastructure
- Perform excavation, trenching, pipe laying, back filling, and compaction
- Set up and maintain safe work zones, including traffic control measures
- Operate hand tools, small equipment, and construction machinery as trained
- Assist with pipe alignment, bedding, grade checking and manhole installation
- Perform confined space entries (training provided)
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe worksite at all times
- Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors
- Complete daily work tasks efficiently while meeting project timelines
Requirements:
- Previous experience in sewer, watermain, underground utilities, or construction is an asset
- Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, bending, working in trenches)
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment
- Strong safety awareness and ability to follow instructions
- Valid driver’s license
- Team-oriented and reliable
- Strong work ethic and punctuality
- Attention to detail and safety
- Ability to take direction and work independently when required
