Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff, for an indeterminate need, the position of Director, Programs within the Visitor and Collection Care Branch. A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established. This process may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified period), various linguistic profiles and security clearance levels, within Library and Archives Canada.

TELEWORK:
Please note that telework is not possible as the duties of the position require the employee to be present on site full-time. A deployment is the transfer of a person from one position to another that does not constitute a promotion. Please be advised that all appointments and deployments (except acting appointments) to and within the Executive (EX) Group within the core public administration that take place on or after April 1, 2020 are subject to the Agreement to be Deployed provision as a mandatory condition of employment.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level may be considered for deployment first.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice. Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within Canada and abroad.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

EXPERIENCE:

Significant
* experience managing public programming in a library, archives, museum or gallery, including responsibility for the strategic planning, design, delivery and evaluation of a broad range of programs, and for supervising the staff responsible for those activities. Experience in developing and maintaining relations, collaboration and partnerships with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders, including the Government of Canada institutions, national and/or international documentary heritage institutions, library and/or archival communities and/or the private sector.

Significant
** experience in managing human resources and financial resources.
* Significant experience is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with leading the design, planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of public programs for diverse audiences. Applicants must clearly demonstrate their responsibility for the development and delivery of such programs, including their role in managing the teams responsible for this work. Responses should describe the types of programs delivered, the scope of responsibility, the size of the team managed, and the results achieved.

** Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having managed complex financial and human resources matters. Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have managed financial and human resources for at least one full performance management cycle (1 year) and must provide metrics as to the size of their non-salary budget and indicate the number of staff on their team.
