Location: Ottawa, Ontario (On-site)

Contract Duration: July 9, 2026 to April 28, 2027 (42 weeks)

Employment Type: Contract

Security Clearance: SECRET Security Clearance (Required or Eligibility to Obtain)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior User Experience (UX) and Digital Transformation Advisor to support large-scale digital modernization initiatives within complex enterprise environments.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams, providing expertise in design thinking, user experience research, service design, and digital transformation strategy. This role requires a strategic thinker who can lead user-centered design initiatives while helping organizations adopt modern digital practices and improve service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advisory services related to user experience, service design, and digital transformation.
  • Lead and facilitate design thinking workshops, stakeholder engagements, and innovation sessions.
  • Conduct and oversee user experience research activities using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations and strategic roadmaps.
  • Develop service blueprints, customer journey maps, experience maps, personas, and related UX artifacts.
  • Design implementation plans to support the adoption of user-centered design practices across teams.
  • Advise senior executives and stakeholders on UX strategy, service modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including business analysts, architects, developers, researchers, and project managers.
  • Produce executive-level presentations, reports, and recommendations.
  • Support enterprise-wide modernization efforts impacting multiple regions and business units.

Mandatory Qualifications

The ideal candidate must demonstrate:

User Experience and Service Design Expertise

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the last 7 years in user experience design, user research, and service design.
  • Experience working within complex organizations with more than 2,000 employees.
  • Experience delivering services within government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.

Digital Transformation Experience

  • Experience leading or contributing to at least three (3) large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience serving as a Lead UX Designer, Senior UX Advisor, or equivalent role.
  • Proven ability to influence strategic decisions and organizational transformation initiatives.

User Research

Demonstrated experience conducting and applying:

  • User interviews
  • Usability testing
  • Focus groups
  • Contextual inquiry
  • Co-design workshops
  • Journey mapping
  • Service design methodologies

UX Strategy and Governance

Experience developing:

  • UX strategies
  • Service blueprints
  • Implementation roadmaps
  • Governance frameworks
  • Adoption and change management plans

Leadership and Advisory Services

  • Experience advising senior executives and business leaders.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and strategic plans to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and facilitate consensus among diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale digital modernization programs.
  • Experience working within the Canadian Federal Government.
  • Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Certification in Design Thinking, User Experience, Human-Centered Design, or Service Design.
  • Experience supporting organizational change management initiatives.
  • Experience designing digital solutions used by large populations (2,000+ users).

Security Requirements

The successful candidate must:

  • Hold a valid SECRET Security Clearance;

OR

  • Be eligible and willing to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance.

Proof of clearance status may be required during the recruitment process.
