Job SummaryReporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role within the production team. The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of production roll coaters, UV casting, HVAC and other mechanical systems at our site.
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage the maintenance and repair of production roll coaters, UV casting, and other mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime.
- Lead and manage the preventive maintenance program to enhance equipment reliability and longevity.
- Diagnose equipment issues, coordinate repairs, and troubleshoot mechanical failures to minimize production disruptions.
- Operate and provide operational support for vacuum coating, UV casting, and other relevant systems.
- Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies to ensure adequate stock levels for maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repairs.
- Prepare maintenance reports and metrics to track performance, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including internal departments and external vendors, to coordinate maintenance activities, services, and support production goals effectively.
- Bachelor and/or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Millwright, or an equivalent certification or qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of related industrial experience.
- Ability to interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and production documents.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety including the handling, utilization and disposal of chemicals.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing machine function issues in an industrial setting.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Project, Teams, and Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience with vacuum coating, thin films, or industrial printing.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, ISO 9000, Health and Safety, SDS knowledge and material handling experience.
- Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Located along the Ottawa River, Thurso is easily accessible from Ottawa and Gatineau via Highway 50, or from East Ottawa using the Cumberland or Rockland ferries. To support your travel, a commute allowance is available to help offset ferry costs and distance-related expenses.
