Scrum Master
Location:
Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. Onsite, full‑time (FTE with benefits). Department:
Lightspeed System Development – Landing Stations and User Terminals.
Overview As a Scrum Master within Telesat’s LEO System Integration and Test team, you will guide multiple groups in delivering integrated satellite‑communication systems. Your focus will be on supporting end‑to‑end software and hardware validation, managing sprint cycles, and ensuring test readiness across embedded software, hardware platforms, and satellite network interfaces.
Responsibilities Coach, mentor, and build high‑performing integration and test teams, supporting them in Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) with a strong focus on test‑driven development, automation, and continuous integration.
Facilitate Agile ceremonies for test teams, ensuring alignment between development and validation cycles.
Work with product owners and system leads to prioritize backlog items, focusing on test coverage, integration activities, and risk‑based validation.
Support PI planning, translating integration/test objectives into visible program deliverables.
Drive defect management and risk mitigation activities, ensuring timely root‑cause analysis and resolution in collaboration with engineering teams.
Foster a quality‑first mindset, promoting adherence to integration test plans, regression testing, and continuous integration pipelines.
Promote automation in testing, data‑driven reporting, and sprint metrics to improve predictability and efficiency.
Build a collaborative environment where cross‑disciplinary teams can raise and resolve integration challenges openly.
Assess Agile maturity of the I&T organization and guide teams toward continuous improvement at a sustainable pace.
Provide clear visibility of test and integration progress, risks, and blockers to program stakeholders.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
Previous experience in project delivery with an understanding of Agile for software development.
Solid understanding of software development; prior development experience strongly desired.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive process improvements and predict delivery outcomes.
Ability to summarize complex problems, solutions, and recommendations.
Ability to thoroughly document technical requirements in specifications.
Strong communication skills, including presentation of technical material to groups.
Enthusiasm for leading highly productive software development teams.
Legal eligibility to work in Canada and the ability to obtain a Reliability Clearance (#LI-SM1).
