General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is hiring for a current vacancy and future Software Engineering openings for upcoming projects in our Air & Naval (A&N) Sonar division. Join a team developing software solutions that support mission‑critical functions. These systems contribute directly to improving operational effectiveness, situational awareness, and decision‑making capabilities for defence partners around the world.

Responsibilities
  • Develop high-quality, maintainable code while adhering to project and coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, including root‑cause analysis and verification of fixes.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support system design, integration, and validation.
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Present technical content at design reviews and team meetings.
  • Perform software requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and integration.
  • Write and review software design documentation, test plans, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical/scientific discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with software development.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., C++, Java).
  • Experience with Agile software development, object‑oriented design tools, and UML.
  • Familiarity with Linux as a host environment and software version control systems.
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and analysis skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Positive approach to learning, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for taking ownership of work.
  • Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.

You must be eligible to work in Canada.

The hiring range for this position is $78,000-$115,000. Our goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including:
