R&P is looking for an experienced Marine Electrician / Technician II to fill a full-time position undertaking a variety of tasks relating to installing, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical and electronic equipment onboard U.S. Navy ships in Pascagoula, MS. This position will involve installing electrical cabling, building various electrical connectors, installation of hardware and troubleshooting malfunctions in several different electrical and electronic systems.
Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, electricians must be first and foremost responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must also be experienced in different kinds of electrical devices and systems.
- Coordinate and execute plans of electrical installations for many different electrical and electronic systems such as lighting, announcing, 115

VAC/24
VDC electrical plant equipment, Uninterrupted Power Supply equipment, Audio/Video equipment, Antenna systems and many others - Install electrical cabinets, fixtures, and equipment for various electrical systems
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks using various MIL-SPEC connectors
- Pull in cables of various lengths and sizes to accommodate system connections
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair/replace damaged equipment
- Install, tag and band copper cables on various classes of Navy surface vessels
- Layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, onboard Navy vessels
- Troubleshooting and testing of copper cables and circuits
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
- Use tools of the trade such as multi-meters, pin crimpers, soldering and crimping techniques
- Familiar with basic computer skills and MS-Office programs including Word and Excel
- Perform other duties as required which may include, but is not limited to, grinding, chipping, surface prep, and foundation installations
- Must be a Marine Electrician with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)
- Must have experience and multi-pin copper connector certification of cables per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5)
- Familiarity with NAVY Standard Items preferred
- Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams
- Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven
- Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus)
- Successful completion of Navy “A” School ("C" School is a plus) or successful completion of a Shipyard or commercial Electrical apprenticeship program (recognized shipyard apprentice graduates are a plus)
- Secret DOD security Clearance preferred
- Proven experience as an electrician
- Experience in marine electrical systems
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc)
- Demonstrate ability to build MIL-SPEC connectors of various types and sizes using both soldering and crimping techniques
- Ability to read and understand electrical and installation drawings and blueprints
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your own
- Willingness to work 2nd shift and weekends if necessary
- Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities
- Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to changes in Navy or shipyard schedules
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
- US citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus)
