Certified Surgical Tech

The salary range for this position is $27.32 - $36.89 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Certified Surgical Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory and accreditation standards.

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares the surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment.
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
  • Passes instruments to the physician during surgery and continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies.
  • Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
  • CPR – Basic Life Support.
  • Physical demands: lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull force up to 50 pounds.
