Role Overview

The Human Resources Manager will lead culture change, partner with leaders at all levels, and drive business results. The role reports to the Director of HR and will be dedicated to the manufacturing plant in Geneva, IL, overseeing all HR activities for a workforce of approximately 300 employees.

- Promote a positive work culture by fostering employee engagement, satisfaction, and well‑being
- Collaborate with department managers to identify training and development needs and design effective programs
- Manage the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding processes
- Lead the Performance Management process and talent management for succession planning
- Oversee community outreach as the employer of choice in the local area
- Lead plant employee recognition efforts to build employee engagement
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, regulations, and company policies
- Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports on HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR initiatives
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in HR management
- Handle employee inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner
- Utilize Ceridian Dayforce as the HRIS and provide adequate training to employees
- Administer the employee relations program, including coaching leadership on policy dissemination
- Oversee hourly staffing, recruitment, new‑hire orientation, and onboarding
- Work with Talent Acquisition to fill all salaried roles, support workforce planning and ramp‑ups
- Investigate compliance issues and present findings verbally and in writing
- Partner with the US benefits team on escalated employee benefits issues
- Collaborate with EH&S on safety procedures, OSHA compliance, and workers’ compensation
- Interpret, evaluate, and apply company policies consistently; train on safety programs and benefits
- Process payroll bi‑weekly and coordinate timecard approval with supervisors
- Oversee agency associate program, reconcile billing, labor reports, and leave management
- Serve as point of contact for employee benefits enrollment and ongoing support
- Facilitate employee relations concerns with HR Generalist, supervisors, and managers
- Maintain relationships with state agencies for unemployment and related hearings
- Maintain EEO/AAP reports, attendance, disciplinary summaries, and turnover analysis in HRIS
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred; experience may substitute)
- 5‑7 years of HR generalist experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Discretion with confidential information
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite
- Integrity and a track record of results
- High sense of urgency and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to build strong internal business partner relationships
- In-depth knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ERISA, COBRA/HIPAA, OSHA records, and benefit administration
- Capability to administer local health, disability,, and return‑to‑work programs
- Organizational and prioritization skills, meeting deadlines with minimal direction
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills; adaptability to change
- Computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Collaborative team orientation and willingness to work off‑shift hours when needed
- Knowledge of HRIS, Time and Attendance Systems, and Ceridian a plus
- Understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws
- Primarily office work
- Willingness to visit night shifts for employee relations support
- Frequent exposure to production environment: noise, dust, machinery, forklifts, temperature fluctuations
- Extended sitting at a workstation
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs
- Lift up to 20 lbs infrequently
Pay range: $97,210 – $145,814 per year (based on location and experience). Includes discretionary annual incentive and a comprehensive benefits package—health, dental, 401(k), wellness—starting the first day of employment.
