Organizational context:
The International Trade Centre (ITC), within its Division for Market Development, focuses on improving the business environment for exporters in developing economies. This role supports a 3-year EU-funded project in Timor-Leste aimed at enhancing economic integration and trade, specifically through supporting Timor-Leste's accession to the WTO and ASEAN.
Job purpose:
This role serves as an embedded Individual Contractor within the Associação Empresarial das Mulheres de Timor-Leste (AEMTL) to provide operational and coordination support. The purpose is to facilitate the implementation of the ITC-AEMTL cooperation framework, strengthening AEMTL's capacity and supporting women-led enterprises. The role contributes to enhancing competitiveness, market access, and economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs in Timor-Leste through various activities including training, database management, and market linkage facilitation.
- Key responsibilities include coordinating workplan implementation, maintaining activity calendars, and tracking progress.
- The role involves facilitating regular coordination between ITC and AEMTL, managing records of meetings, and reporting on issues.
- Support is required for updating and maintaining the AEMTL member database, including business sector and contact information.
- Additionally, the role entails supporting outreach and engagement with AEMTL members, providing operational and logistical support for training and capacity-building activities, and compiling information on market-access and business-linkage opportunities.
- A university degree in business administration, economics, international trade, development studies, management, public administration, or a related field is an advantage.
- Requires at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in programme/project support, business development, private-sector development, trade, entrepreneurship, or economic development.
- Experience supporting development projects, training, or business support activities is needed.
- Experience with private-sector organisations, business associations, SMEs, or women-led enterprises is advantageous.
- Organizational and coordination skills, ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines, good written and oral communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management, understanding of entrepreneurship/SME development/trade/women's economic empowerment, and ability to work independently while coordinating with stakeholders.
