Key Responsibilities

• Teach French to students at GCSE and A Level following the relevant Pearson Edexcel curriculum.
• Develop and deliver engaging differentiated lessons that foster students linguistic competence and appreciation of French language and culture.
• Prepare students thoroughly for internal assessments and public examinations ensuring high academic standards and measurable progress.
• Contribute to the planning development and review of the French curriculum within the Modern Languages Department.
• Provide regular feedback reports and assessments to students and parents supporting each learners academic and personal growth.
• Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings professional development and collaborative projects.
• Promote a positive learning environment that reflects the values and ethos of the British School of Geneva.
• Support school events trips and extracurricular activities related to French language and culture.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelors degree or higher in French Modern Languages or a related field ( Masters degree preferred).
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE QTS or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching French at GCSE and A Level (or equivalent secondary level).
• Strong knowledge of British curriculum assessment objectives and examination requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
• Commitment to inclusive education and differentiation to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• High level of fluency in French (native or near-native proficiency) and strong command of English.
• Experience in an international or multicultural school environment is an advantage.
• Assess and monitor student learning and progress.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
• A proven facility with using relevant Information technology and complying with in-house systems of recordkeeping.
• A proven ability to provide additional contribution to student experience beyond the mainstream curriculum.
• A 10 Year Personal Background Police Clearance record (to include International child protection certificate or equivalent).
• 2 written references from Referees.
• A current Work Permit to work in Switzerland.

The French Teacher plays a key role in delivering high-quality French language education to students at GCSE and A Level. The successful candidate will foster linguistic proficiency intercultural understanding and academic excellence in line with the schools mission to provide an inclusive and inspiring British education in an international context.
