Reporting to Executive Directors of Fab AI and the EiE Hub
Location Geneva, Switzerland
Type of contract 12 months, full time. Fixed-term starting 1 September 2026; with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
BackgroundThe EiE Hub is a strong alliance of 67 diverse members, including Fab AI (AI-for-Education.org), that come together to step up visibility, commitment and funding for education in emergencies (EiE). Its objective is to effect change and ensure the continuity and delivery of safe, quality education for displaced children and youth or those living in emergency contexts, such as armed conflict and disasters.
To achieve this, the EiE Hub harnesses the potential that International Geneva offers to catalise joint action, promote policy dialogue, and facilitate multistakeholder synergies and partnerships. This includes major convenings like the 2027 World AI Summit, scheduled to take place in Geneva.
Fab AI’s AI-for-Education.org initiative provides a quality assurance framework and R&D to develop and scale AI technologies for learning in low and middle-income countries. Their approach emphasizes using AI to enhance, not replace, the human connections between teachers, students, and parents that drive effective education.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the education landscape and there are significant investments in foundation models, engineering and global platforms for AI for education. At the same time, AI is changing the nature of armed conflict as well as humanitarian work, including EiE: notably, AI can help improve the delivery of safe and quality education to crisis-affected children directly, and improving through operational efficiencies;
it can also help with planning for climate disruptions. There also exist critical challenges and ethical concerns around the use of AI both in education and humanitarian work.
The EiE Hub Secretariat and Fab AI are jointly seeking an AI Advisor to strengthen strategic alignment, dialogue, and collaboration on AI and EiE across the EiE Hub membership and wider sector. A key focus of the role will be supporting engagement in the lead-up to the 2027 World AI Summit in Geneva, ensuring that education, including in emergencies and complex contexts, is meaningfully represented in global AI discussions.
The AI Advisor will also contribute to the development of shared visioning, positioning, and practical approaches on AI in EiE, including through the creation of a dedicated EiE Hub product on the theme.
This position will support the EiE Hub’s members and broader sector partners as they navigate the implications of rapidly evolving AI technologies for education in humanitarian contexts. The role will promote digital literacy and responsible AI practices, while helping to identify, assess, and strengthen the safe and effective use of AI tools and platforms in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
Shared equally (50/50) between the EiE Hub Secretariat and Fab AI, the position will also contribute to emerging work on quality assurance, collective learning, and the safe deployment of AI for EiE.
