Job DescriptionAs a Chemical Safety Engineer, you will join the HSE department, which supports CERN in the implementation and application of its Safety Policy. With the HSE department, you will join the OHS Group, which is in charge of providing advice, monitoring, and following up on the implementation and accomplishment of safety objectives, aimed at a continuous improvement of a safe working environment.
Within this group, you will join the General Safety and Equipment Integrity (GI) section.
You will be one of the CERN specialists for Chemical Safety, joining a multidisciplinary team of Safety experts.
Functions- Provide advice and support, including for risk assessments, in the Chemical Safety domain.
- Perform safety verifications on installations and activities.
- Provide support in the definition of requirements for the compliant transport of dangerous goods.
- Provide support in safety audits, technical reviews, and projects.
- Check the conformity to safety requirements of the engineering and tendering specifications.
- Write CERN Safety documentation including rules, instructions, and guidelines.
- Design and deliver safety training in collaboration with the CERN Safety Training service.
Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.
Experience- Demonstrated experience in managing chemical safety engineering aspects of large-scale industrial facilities or projects.
- Demonstrated experience in providing advice and support on chemical and biological hazards, including the transport of dangerous goods.
- Knowledge of relevant European regulations or equivalent national standards for the chemical safety domain.
- Occupational safety and risk management, knowledge of chemical risks and protection.
- Occupational safety and risk management, including hazard identification and analysis, risk assessment and compensatory measures definition.
- Knowledge of personal protective equipment.
- Safety conformity assessment.
