Position: Field Service Engineer – Critical Power Systems (Data Centers & Industrial Power)

, part of the world’s leading gas generator and third largest diesel generator manufacturer, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Field Service Engineer – Critical Power Systems (Data Centers & Industrial Power)to join the team within the Service Department.

Purpose:

The ideal candidate, reporting directly to the Regional Service Manager, will be responsible for commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response activities for diesel generator systems, electrical power systems, and associated auxiliary equipment.

The successful candidate will work directly with customers operating mission-critical facilities where equipment reliability, response time, and technical excellence are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on diesel generators and associated systems.
  • Execute maintenance activities in accordance with OEM procedures and Pramac standards.
  • Perform functional testing, operational inspections, and performance verification.
  • Carry out load bank testing and operational validation where required.
Corrective Maintenance
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Restore equipment following failures and emergency breakdowns.
  • Perform root cause investigations and recommend permanent corrective actions.
  • Replace defective components and complete repairs in accordance with OEM specifications.
  • Install and commission new generator systems.
  • Perform factory acceptance support (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).
  • Configure controllers and perform functional testing.
Technical Support
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve equipment reliability and availability.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to Product Support when required.
  • Support long-term Customer Relationship
Reporting & Documentation
  • Complete Field service reports.
  • Record operating parameters and maintenance history.
  • Prepare technical reports including Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Document recommendations for lifecycle improvements.
Education & Requirements:
  • Technical Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering
  • English – Professional working knowledge (additional European languages are an advantage)
  • Availability to travel throughout Italy and Europe
  • Availability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and respond to emergency call-outs.
Experience & Technical Competencies
  • + 3 years of experience in Diesel Generator Systems, Power Generation, Critical Power, UPS Systems, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Distribution, Data Center Infrastructure, Commissioning, or Field Service.
  • Experience with in Mission-Critical Facilities is considered a strong advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, generator controllers (Com Ap, Deep Sea Electronics, Woodward, etc.), ATS, synchronizing systems, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, technical drawings, PLC fundamentals, and battery, cooling, and fuel systems.
  • Additional experience with load bank testing, thermographic inspections, vibration analysis, battery testing, fuel polishing, remote monitoring platforms, and power quality analysis is an asset.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
